We laughed, we cried, we cheered! I think we all know that intentionally and carefully engaging student emotions in the learning process leads to a much stronger experience and deeper learning. Teenagers in particular get really fired up about social justice and stories of success against great odds. Here is an article that goes a little deeper into Social-Emotional Learning (and yes, it has an acronym - SEL). Fear not though. The author says: Do your students reflect on their work? Do you use pair-shares in your instruction? Do you celebrate your students' accomplishments? If so, you might already be supporting students' social and emotional development!
