Handbook Highlight - Teacher Aide Policy

TEACHER AIDE POLICY
  1. Teachers are allowed one student aide per semester.  Exceptions can be made for Special Education, Academic or English Language Development and Laboratory Science classes.  An appeal process will be provided for teachers desiring more than one aide.  The appeal will be ruled upon by the Assistant Principal of Student Services.
  2. Student aides work under the direct supervision of their teacher and must remain with them at all times.  If an aide is sent on an errand, he/she must have a pass.  Aides must not be out wandering on campus or allowed to leave campus to run errands.
  3. Student aides do not have access to student records, confidential documents, or other restricted information.
  4. If an aide is absent, the teacher to whom that student is assigned must record the absence in Aeries.
  5. At each grading period, the teacher is responsible for grading their student aide.
  6. A maximum of 10 credits of aide time will be counted toward graduation.
  7. Only students in grades eleven or twelve may be selected as teacher aides.
