Professional Growth - PLC

Monday Sept. 11 is our first department-level PLC meeting of the school year. The intention of a Professional Learning Community is to work as teams of professionals to analyze student achievement and coordinate efforts to apply the most effective practices for all students.

In a true PLC, collaborative teams address the following questions:

1. What do we want students to learn?
2. How will we know if they have learned it?
3. What will we do if they have not learned it?
4. How will we provide extended learning opportunities for students who have mastered the content?

Of course, each one of these questions can take hours of analysis, discussion and planning, so it is an essential part of the never-ending quest to maximize learning for every student.
