Let’s face it, the life of a high school student is much more challenging then when many of us were in school. Even if we had a tough load of classes and extracurricular activities, we were not persistently bombarded with social media and the constant pressures to validate ourselves and impress others.
Like any other learning activity, we should make sure that what we are asking of students beyond the classroom is essential to their learning and realistically manageable. One veteran principal decided to ask his students about homework, and then the staff agreed to some coordinated efforts to help alleviate some of the stress. Read about it HERE
